Come Join the Online Support Group

Iowa Weight Loss Specialists now has a private group Facebook page. The online forum is for existing patients to ask each other questions, share ideas, and support one another.

You can find the group by searching “Iowa Weight Loss Specialists Online Support Group.” Individuals will not be accepted into this group unless they are an existing patient. The vision is that people will find this forum useful no matter what stage of the weight loss journey they are in. There will likely be patients in medical weight loss, those strongly considering surgery, and several that are at various stages of the post-operative process.

Although we take pride in having a comprehensive healthcare team and being accessible, some things are best heard from others in a similar situation. Going forward, the providers will try and stay out of the conversations.

As a private facebook group, “outsiders” will be able to see who is in the group. However, your posts cannot be read by others unless they are formally accepted into the group. You certainly can invite others to join but make sure they are a patient of ours before doing so.

We will continue to hold live support groups once per month in West Des Moines and Belmond. Since patients are coming to us from across the state and potentially from across the Midwest, the online support group makes a lot of sense and is likely to grow in popularity. The forum has been live for 2 weeks and there seems to be a lot of activity on there already.
