Danielle gave herself the gift of health for her 40th birthday back in January 2017 when she decided to have weight loss surgery at Iowa Weight Loss Specialists with Dr. Todd Eibes.
Danielle wanted to document her weight loss journey so she started a blog to share her challenges and successes with others and to inform those who are struggling with weight loss.
She hasn’t posted a whole lot on her blog in the past few months since her surgery, but this isn’t to say she doesn’t have a lot to tell. In fact, Danielle lost 100 pounds in her first six months post-weight loss surgery and has been truly living life to the fullest.
“Before surgery, I was simply lazy. There was a reason I was 275 pounds people and that was not because I was so active and busy. I was thinking about why I haven’t been writing last night as I laid in bed trying to fall asleep and I was wondering if it was because I was just being lazy again. The answer is no. The reason I haven’t been writing isn’t because I’m lazy or because I don’t have anything to say. The answer is I haven’t been writing because I’m too busy to slow down enough to do it. I have all this energy and ambition that I never had before and I don’t sit still long enough to do it. That’s a good thing right?! I haven’t even watched TV or movies in weeks. I used to have serious addictions to shows and couldn’t miss an episode without being upset. Now, I don’t even have cable anymore! I’m too busy doing more important things like riding my bike to watch TV.”
Danielle has taken her newfound energy and excitement and channeled it into one really amazing goal she has set for herself . . . to ride the full week of RAGBRAI (The Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). Just to put this in perspective, this bike ride covers an average of 468 miles over the span of one week. It began this past Sunday, July 23 and ends on July 29.
We couldn’t be more proud of Danielle and her weight loss success and we can’t wait to see her achieve this new goal this week!
Danielle, we’re cheering you on!
