Kelly M.

Surgery Date: 6/2016
Starting Weight: 276
Current Weight: 176

What made you decide to have weight loss surgery? I didn’t like how I was feeling and knew I needed to lose weight because of the health issues that run in my family, like diabetes and heart disease, and my weight was taking a toll on my knees.

How long did it take for you to decide to have weight loss surgery? After I heard about the gastric sleeve procedure, I started looking for doctors right away.

Did anyone either encourage or discourage you from having surgery? After I went to the consultation and knew this was a good fit for me, my family supported me.

What do you wish you'd known before the surgery? Nothing; the two-hour seminar they have you go to before surgery explained everything in detail.

What things are you able to do now that may have been difficult or impossible before surgery? Play sports with my adult kids, feel more confident in how I look and feel.

Which conditions or diseases have you seen decrease or disappear since your surgery? The pressure on my body as a whole, but specifically my back problems and knee problems got better.

How has surgery altered your outlook on life, your emotions, and/or relationships? I like how I am able to enjoy healthy eating, and I like learning how to cook healthier meals.

Why did you decide to have surgery with Dr. Eibes? I liked how organized and cautious his outlook on having surgery is. He doesn’t just rush to surgery; he explains things in detail and gives options and information before you get to the surgery part of the process.

What would you say about Dr. Eibes and his team? This experience has been a great experience because of the doctors and their team before, during, and after the surgery. The aftercare part has been amazing.

What would you tell someone who is considering weight loss surgery? To absolutely seek out information on Dr Eibes and his team. It has been the best decision of my life. While it’s not an easy journey, you have to work hard and do the program, it is worth it in the end.
