What made you decide to have weight loss surgery? I was tired of being obese and unhealthy. I was always uncomfortable physically, mentally, a, and emotionally.
How long did it take for you to decide to have weight loss surgery? Once I realized I didn't need anyone's permission but my own to take the first step, I was ready.
Did anyone either encourage or discourage you from having surgery? I think there is a general stigma that weight loss surgery is "the easy way out" and I felt some of those vibes from people, but overall I was encouraged.
What do you wish you'd known before the surgery? I wish I would have realized that once the weight came off I would forever be cold. I will always carry a sweater or jacket with me. This is definitely not a set back or inconvenience for me at all though. Just means I get to buy cute and cozy clothes!
What things are you able to do now that may have been difficult or impossible before surgery? Literally everything in my life, physically, has gotten easier. Even the small things like being able to breathe while bending to paint my toenails! I have a lot more confidence and no longer feel like an elephant in the room.
Which conditions or diseases have you seen decrease or disappear since your surgery? I no longer have high blood pressure and my chronic low back pain that I will have the rest of my life due to reasons other than weight has significantly improved and has not limited me since surgery.
How has surgery altered your outlook on life, your emotions, and/or relationships? I am healthier, more confident, have a positive outlook on life, and am more emotionally sound.
Why did you decide to have surgery with Dr. Eibes? He did my coworker's surgery, and after some research I knew he was the best choice for me.
What would you say about Dr. Eibes and his team? I have nothing but good things to say. I truly feel like I am treated as a human being and not just a number. I've never felt judged and if I was struggling with something there was a "how can we change the plan to make this work for you" attitude that I appreciate so much. Treatment has been customized to meet my needs and reach my goals.
What would you tell someone who is considering weight loss surgery? Do your research, ask questions, realize it is a big commitment and chose what is best for you. This is your life.
Is there any additional information you would like to share? Weight loss surgery is easily the best decision I have ever made.
